Leaders of Tomorrow (LOT) and Seeking Individual Self-Expression through Academics and Spirituality (SISTAS) Program

Objective

LOT and SISTAS are after-school programs, serving young men and women ages 11 through 15. Our programs give them the opportunity to meet with mentors at various times throughout the course of a week in two-hour increments.  These programs focus on academic support, life-skills training and character development.

Description

Helping to reshape the often-negative portrayals of men and women in our society, the LOT and the SISTAS programs unearth the essence of what constitutes manhood and womanhood and delivers positive messages in creative, authentic and resounding ways.

The programs work to extract youth’s full potential by positive reinforcement and development of mental and spiritual faculties in a nurturing environment. Moreover, the program counsels youth about the influence that Christ can have in their lives.

Impact

  • As a part of a faith-based organization, the program emphasizes the love of Christ in the message we give our teens, underscoring the sense of change that results as accepting the Lord as one’s savior
  • Program benefits include service-learning, field trips, cultural enrichment, Maryland School Assessment preparation and leadership development
